A Process Safety Valve, also known as a Pressure Safety Relief valve (PSV) is a relief mechanism for a compressible gas or fluid. A Pressure Safety Relief valve is intended to open abruptly. When the PSV's fixed pressure is reached, the valve almost completely opens.
